Airports have become increasingly aware of the problems posed by UAVs flying in and around their airspace. However, Bravo Zulu’s assessment shows that a large number of airports still remain unaware of the number of UAVs actually flying around their perimeter.

Airports can’t afford to allow the potential threat to go unaddressed when a single, errant or rogue UAV can cause an outsized impact on their operations. The easiest counter-measure is detecting and identifying the UAVs at a maximum distance to allow adequate response time.

It is only a matter of time until insurance and government agencies determine how to assess and assign responsibility for counter-drone security at airports and update their authority to use risk mitigation technology. For now, UAV detection and operator tracing have proven to be an effective means of educating UAV operators on safe flight procedures.
